Demonstrates 36 Gbps in 5G trials and receives Tier III Gold Certification for Operational Sustainability
The Etisalat Group is actively working to Strengthen the ICT sector of the UAE, and leading efforts for 5G on a regional and global level.
Viavi Solutions has recently released new industry data on the state of 5G trials globally. Despite 5G standards not being expected until 2020, 25 mobile operators have already announced that they are lab testing “5G”. Among those, 12 report having progressed to field testing. An additional four operators have announced their plans for 5G trials. Five operators have reached data speeds of 35 Gbps or more in 5G trials and to date, Etisalat has demonstrated the highest data speed of 36 Gbps.
Simultaneous to its consumer unit, the Enterprise division is excelling as a digital services provider in recent times.
Etisalat has recently received Tier III Gold Certification from the globally recognized Data Centre authority ‘Uptime Institute’ for Operational Sustainability; an acknowledgement of the highest level of operational excellence for Etisalat’s Khalifa City Data Centre in Abu Dhabi. Etisalat is the first provider in the MENA region to acquire the certificate out of only 18 facilities in the world certified with Tier III Gold Operational Sustainability.
The Operational Sustainability Certificate ensures that Etisalat’s Khalifa City Data Centre has the utmost degree of mitigation against the risk of human error outage, accounting for over 70 percent of all Data Centre outages globally. With this certification, emergency plans and procedures are in place to guarantee rapid response by the operations team. Scheduled and corrective maintenance procedures for every system and unit of equipment in the Data Centre help mitigate any risks of equipment-caused outages.
The certification stage looks at three key categories of Data Centre operations mainly management and operations, building characteristics and site location.
