PCCW’s net profit up 28 percent on 3 percent sales increase

Hong Kong-based quadruple-play operator PCCW has reported that its core communications revenues for the twelve months ended 31 December 2010 rose by 3% to HKD21.47 billion (USD2.75 million), driven by a 3% increase in fixed broadband and voice turnover to HKD16.72 billion, attributed to data services growth. Consolidated sales were also boosted by a 2% rise in mobile revenues to HKD1.71 billion and TV and content turnover which climbed 1% to HKD2.38 billion. PCCW’s fixed broadband lines in service grew by 5% in the year to 1.37 million, its number of mobile customers increased 4% to 1.48 million, and a 4% rise in IPTV users gave it a total of 1.04 million at end-2010. Annual consolidated EBITDA was up 5% at HKD7.07 billion and the group posted a 28% hike in after-tax profit to HKD1.93 billion.
