Manama, Bahrain: Batelco, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, has held a Blood Donation Drive at its Headquarters in Hamala. The drive, under the theme Batelco’s True Blood, was organised by a group of Batelco staff members to encourage one of the Company’s internal values – Teamwork.

Batelco collaborated with Salmaniya Medical Centre to organise the blood collection drive and seven of their medical staff attended and supervised the collection.

The Batelco ‘Teamwork’ team members held an internal campaign over a number of weeks leading up to the event in order to encourage their colleagues to sign up and donate some blood. Over 175 Batelco staff tuned up on the day to offer their support for the worthy cause.

“Batelco’s senior management provided their full support to ensure the success of the ‘Batelco True Blood’ campaign and a number of them attended to make their contribution on the day,” said Batelco Group GM Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.

“Donating blood is an extremely worthwhile cause as it helps to save lives in emergency situations. We are delighted with the number of staff who took the time to support the drive,” he added.

Due to the success of the campaign, it is hoped to hold further blood donation days in the future. Following the event, many staff requested that the campaign be repeated every four month.
