aeCERT Participates in The Regional Collaboration in Infrastructure Protection Conference

The National Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), an initiative of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) participated in the Regional Collaboration in Infrastructure Protection (RCIP) conference. The event was held over two days, February 1 – 2, 2011 at Madinat Jumeirah.

Engineer Majid Al Madhloum, head of Security Quality Services in aeCERT, delivered a keynote discussing the role played by aeCERT in protecting the critical national infrastructure in the country. Eng. Majid discussed different types of cyber threats and its negative impact on the national infrastructure.
Al Madhloum also explained that aeCERT offers at the current time 30 services under different categories, including Awareness & Education, Monitoring & Response, Research& Analysis and Security Quality.
Engineer Majid said: “The increasing reliability on cyber technologies and services is met with an increasing landscape of cyber threats. Protecting the national infrastructure is everybody’s responsibility and we at aeCERT are determined to always share the insights of the latest cyber attacks on the critical national infrastructure.”
“The keynote we delivered was particularly pointing at our strategy in the UAE, while guarding our cyber space in general and our critical national infrastructure in particular.” Added Al Madhloum.
The conference brings together key individuals managing today’s technology to answer the challenges of infrastructure and asset protection. The high profile participants, including senior-level government, non-profit, and private-sector leaders from the U.S., Europe, and Middle East countries, were aiming at forming relationships and collaborating on infrastructure protection matters.
The conference promotes international and regional collaboration among nations on critical infrastructure and national asset issues. It also provides a forum for information gathering, sharing experiences, and solutions-based discussions, with an ultimate goal to improve the global nature of infrastructure protection.
The Regional Collaboration in Infrastructure Protection (RCIP) conference is an initiative of the National Defense University’s Information Resources Management College (NDU iCollege) and was co-hosted with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), UAE.
