Batelco Annual Report Wins Prestigious International Award

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecommunications company and Smart Media, the award winning Annual Report Company, are delighted to announce that Batelco’s 2010 Annual Report has scooped a Silver Award at the prestigious LACP 2010 Vision Awards.
LACP (League of American Communications Professionals) LLC was established in 2001 in order to create a forum within the public relations industry that facilitates discussion of best-in-class practices within the profession, while also recognizing those who demonstrate exemplary communications capabilities.
Batelco’s success is a very significant achievement given that the 2010 Vision Awards Annual Report Competition drew one of the largest number of submissions ever, representing a broad range of industries and organizational sizes. More than 5,000 entries representing upwards of two-dozen countries were received, so competition was exceptionally tough.
The other winners in the Telecommunications Category included industry leaders Turkcell, Turkey, China Telecom, Hutchinson Telecom, Hong Kong and Rogers Communications from Canada.
Smart Media is one of the world’s very few specialist Annual Report producers and over the past 15 years has produced over 1,400 annual reports for clients from a wide spectrum of enterprises.
Smart Media Chairman Dr. Vijith Kannangara made a special visit to Batelco Headquarters in Hamala, Bahrain to present the award to Batelco Group Chief Executive Officer Peter Kaliaropoulos. Dr. Kannangara was accompanied by Dilip de S. Wijeyeratne Managing Director & CEO of TWI who represents Smart Media in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
“We selected Smart Media to design and produce our 2010 Annual Report based on their impressive reputation. It is certainly gratifying for Batelco and Bahrain to compete with thousands of companies at the international level and be selected for such auspicious recognition together with some global industry leaders,” said Mr. Kaliaropoulos.
