Embodying its commitment to supporting local entities and activities, Batelco, Bahrain’s leading Telecommunications Company was delighted to sponsor and attend the “New Eyes on Tradition” event organized by Shajara Tayyibah, a committee within Bahrain Society for Women’s Development. The event, which took place recently at the BIC, was held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of Bahrain.
At the event, Batelco General Manager Government Relations Nadia Hussain received a commemorative plaque from Shaikha Zain Bint Khaled Al Khalifa, Honorary President of Bahrain Society for Women’s Development & Head of Shajera Tayibah Committee.
Batelco earlier announced a sponsorship of BD15,000 to support the activities of the Bahrain Society for Women Development.
Batelco General Manager Media Relations Ahmed Al Janahi said that Batelco was delighted to support such a worthy initiative.
“Such activities deserve full support, as it encourages talented Bahrainis to capitalize on their capabilities and skills to secure a source of income and additionally to promote the heritage of the Kingdom to the world,” he added
Members of Shajara Tayyibah Committee work in close collaboration with local artists to help them use modern techniques in making their traditional products; such as basket weaving and pottery in a more innovative and creative manner. This endeavor by the Shajara Tayyibah Committee is aimed at helping Bahraini artists and craftsmen make their work more attractive to potential customers in order to compete locally and internationally. The proceeds of the event will be used for the development of the craftsmen community.
