Etisalat“, “the Export-Import Bank of China” and Huawei International Pte. Ltd., today announced the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Strategic Cooperation encompassing Etisalat’s entire footprints of 18 countries. Under the terms of the agreement, “Huawei“ and “Etisalat“ will continue to work together to provide innovative new technologies and services across Middle East, Africa and Asia to enrich people’s life with emerging telecom technologies; and China EXIM Bank will extend finance support to the cooperation of the two companies.
The MOU was signed by Mr. Nasser bin Obood, Acting/ Chief Executive Officer “Etisalat” and Yuan Xingyong, Assistant President China EXIM Bank and Ms. Ji Ping the Executive Vice President of Huawei , amongst other excellencies, dignitaries and business leaders from the UAE and China. The signing ceremony took place at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
Commenting on the occasion, Nasser bin Obood, Acting Chief Executive Officer “Etisalat” said: “Etisalat has established a reputation within the telecoms community for continuously innovating and identifying new ways of providing customers an unparalleled telecommunication experience. Through this strategy, “Etisalat” touches every sphere of our customers’ lives and this helps maintain our leadership across our markets. This partnership is another demonstration of “Etisalat’s” commitment to provide the latest technologies to its customers and to help develop ICT across the entire region and countries we operate in.”
Bin Obood continued: “Through this agreement “Etisalat” and “Huawei” will share the latest best practise covering telecommunication industry trends including intelligent management of networks, cloud computing and applications.”
Bin Obood concluded “that in the past 8 years, the cooperation between “Etisalat” and “Huawei” has witnessed significant growth and success. From the first 3G network deployed in MENA in 2003, “Etisalat” and “Huawei” has since moved on to collaborate on a global perspective by cooperating to build and expand “Etisalat’s” networks in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, Tanzania, Nigeria, Afghanistan”.
Mr. Yuan Xingyong, Assistant President of the “Export-Import Bank of China” said “The signing of this MOU will not only contribute to the economic and trade cooperation between our two countries, but also open a new chapter for the cooperation among three parties to this MOU. Moreover it is also of great importance for Chinese enterprises in their go-global endeavor.”
After the signing ceremony, Ms. Ji Ping, Executive Vice President of Huawei, “Etisalat has been leading the Middle East’s telecommunication evolution for over three decades. It is the pioneer in deploying advanced infrastructure and introducing the latest telecom services. Since 2003, starting with the first 3G network in Gulf, we have been honored to be sharing a strategic relationship with “Etisalat”. The agreement today is the enhancement in our strengthening partnership. A partnership not just limited to our companies, but also of our two great nations and people.”
Ms. Ji Ping added, “We are grateful for the invaluable support that we’ve received from UAE and China in helping us contribute to the growing bi-lateral relations between both countries. Today, the signing of agreement between “Etisalat”, “China EXIM Bank” and “Huawei” has marked a great milestone in solidifying this relationship to achieve mutual goals.”
