Etisalat Takes Part in RAK Education, Training and Careers Exhibition

Etisalat is participating in the 2011 RAK Education, Training and Careers Exhibition, in order to enlighten fresh graduates who want to work and train in new career opportunities available for Emiratis.

The corporation’s participation in the exhibition is part of Etisalat’s ongoing strategy and efforts to contribute to Emiratisation through direct engagement with Emiratis who display talent and expertise. The sole purpose of the exhibition is to ensure potential candidates are informed about the benefits and incentives, as well as the training and rehabilitation programmes available to them, as a valued employee in the UAE.
Abdulaziz Al Sawaleh, Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Etisalat, mentioned that the corporation’s contribution to this year’s exhibition has a new dimension, due to the recent initiation of the Khalifa Fund for Enabling Emiratisation by His Highness Shiekh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nayhan, President of the UAE.
“This unique opportunity has come about after His Highness’s gracious initiative was implemented, to provide a quality lifestyle and ensure a stable financial living to the county’s citizens. Etisalat will continue to work hard to maintain its position of being the leading corporation in the field of Emiratisation in accordance with the wise vision of our leadership and government,” said Al Sawaleh.
Al Sawaleh added that Etisalat is constantly striving to meet the leadership’s directives of harnessing Emirati talent and providing them with opportunities to showcase their creativity and contribute to the country’s vision of a modern nation. He also stated that Etisalat has registered high levels of Emiratisation, now reaching 35{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} of the total workforce, which is equivalent to more than 3,200 employees.
Al Sawaleh emphasised that Etisalat is unique in its continuous efforts in rehabilitation and development of the nation and goes beyond simply recruiting Nationals, as it develops employees’ skills and provides them with the necessary training in line with the highest international standards through Etisalat Academy and other local and international institutions. He said that last year, Etisalat trained 1,416 UAE Nationals at Etisalat Academy and 2,325 Emiratis in other specialised courses in the UAE, while 423 Nationals were trained internationally.
Al Sawaleh stated that Etisalat believes UAE Nationals should hold leading positions in National organisations, and this can be seen through the corporation’s percentage of UAE Nationals in top management positions, which is now at 95{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10}.
“This is why the organisation has enhanced its Future leadership Programme, which specialises in the rehabilitation of UAE Nationals to prepare them for senior management positions. Through this programme, in 2010 alone, 13 Emirati employees earned a Master’s degree in Executive Management from Cranfield School of Management in the UK,” he concluded.
Etisalat regularly participates in recruitment exhibitions as the corporation firmly believes in the importance of ongoing communication with different sectors, particularly new graduates. These events provide graduates with a platform to choose careers and qualifications that closely match the roles available in various organisations. Etisalat provides all job applicants an online recruitment platform where they can search and apply for vacancies, while also uploading their resumes for consideration of any future vacancies.
Etisalat has trained and rehabilitated more than 76,000 of the country’s citizens, offering more than 16,000 training courses to date, some of whom work within Etisalat, while others joined different business sectors in UAE. These efforts reflect the size of Etisalat’s contributions to its community through Emiratisation. Every year, Etisalat trains approximately 6,000 employees through Etisalat Academy, external training programmes and workshops inside and outside the UAE.
