First Lebanese TV on mobile phones, launched worldwide by Microsoft Lebanon, Eurisko Mobility and MTV

Lebanon: Microsoft Lebanon, Eurisko Mobility and Murr Television (MTV) pioneered in introducing the first Lebanese TV mobile phone application on Windows Phone 7. “MTV”, available to Windows Phone 7 users for free worldwide starting August 2011, is an interactive and fully featured application that will tickle TV fanatics, come in handy to busy individuals relying on their mobiles to stay up-to-date, and allow the Lebanese around the world to be easily connected with the Lebanese media.
In anticipation of the fast-approaching 3G technology launch in Lebanon, this free mobile application is set to transform the TV viewing experience by offering live TV streaming of ‘MTV Al Lubnaniya’, breaking news alerts with photos and videos, Video-On-Demand of current and archived news bulletins and shows, as well as live updates on MTV programs, all delivered to Windows Phone 7 mobile users around the world, on the run and all round-the-clock.
“The world is going digital and Microsoft is constantly looking for opportunities to excite people’s lives with innovative digital experiences”, said Ghassan Chahine, Developer and Platform Strategy Lead at Microsoft Lebanon. “Microsoft has historically driven the digital revolution and we are in Lebanon to bring these digital developments and their benefits to people and businesses in the country.
The application will feature daily and weekly program grids, including airing times and short promotional videos on each program. The Video-On-Demand service will draw on a huge archive of MTV programs such as the legendary “S. L. Chi”, as well as archived news bulletins. Furthermore, the application will provide an exclusive social journalism service, ‘You Report’, through which users can contribute pictures and videos to a special program on MTV and receive prizes for the most impressive content.
“We are very excited to introduce this innovative service to keep our valued viewers in Lebanon and the Arab world ahead of the curve”, commented Jihad Murr, CEO of MTV Lebanon. “A huge staff from MTV is dedicating their time to run and maintain this service around the clock, and we have chosen  Windows Phone 7 operating system as a platform because we trust in its capabilities and consumers equally like it”, he added.
“Windows Phone 7 has provided us with an excellent platform to build the various features of this rich and versatile application, with multiple dynamic bitrates depending on the user’s connection speed” stated Zack Morad, CEO of Eurisko Mobility. “The new Windows Phone 7 Operating System presents exciting features and functionalities from the Microsoft Windows suite, which will allow us to build novel applications that simplify the lives of business users in particular”, added Morad.
The “MTV” application is free to all Windows Phone 7 users worldwide, through the Windows Phone Marketplace.
