STC Group CEO, Eng. Saud bin Majed Al Daweesh and Director Dealer Network at Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors Mr. Mark Notkin, launched yesterday the first car in the Region equipped with “Quick Net” service installed on a BMW 7 Series vehicle as a result of an agreement of cooperation between STC and Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, the exclusive BMW Dealer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
BMW ConnectedDrive which is internet in the car is a new concept offered by BMW in its mission to develop tomorrow’s technology for today cars focusing on connecting drivers to their cars and world in an intelligent manner while at the same time combining the best possible safety, comfort, and driving pleasure.
The first phase of the project will provide internet connectivity for smart devices using Bluetooth, where customers can enjoy internet services by opening three pages at the same time to browse various internet site using the front and middle screen, and the two screens on the back of the front seat headrests for the passengers in the back. Customers can read emails, address books, phone numbers. And calendar in addition to make full use of BMW apps on iphone by linking to the system and then connecting with the various social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and control the settings.
The second phase will have a mobile chip from STC which will be attached to a Snap In modem keeping other devices connected using a Wi-Fi signal enabling usage of internet services on other portable devices such as smart phones, ipads, and laptops.
The third phase will require building a platform enabling BMW customers to make use of other services including emergency services, road side assist, news, weather reports, and information on surrounding areas using Google Maps™ add to that connectivity between two BMW vehicles when in the same area where customers in both vehicles can share information on road as an example and other information that can be shared.
On this occasion, Jameel bin Abdullah Al Molhem, Vice President Personal Services at STC explained that this new technology is launched for the first time in the region in cooperation with Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors over three phases in which this marks the first phase to provide customers with this technology in the near future. In the second phase of the project, we will provide an STC chip to be installed in the vehicle’s system keeping customers continuously connected to the internet with high quality. Al Molhem added, “This project is a live example of STC’s continuous quest to provide innovative and advanced services as part of its plan to develop mobile internet applications in the Kingdom. Our partnership with a well recognized brand like BMW embodies the Company’s vision and its investment in the market.”

The number of areas covered with 3G network from STC reached 345 including cities, governorates, and villages providing internet services that reach 42 mbps with a superior coverage of inhabited areas. STC’s coverage in the Kingdom reached 98{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} in addition to that, STC covers more than 30,000 km of roads giving customers with BMW vehicles equipped with “Quick Net” service strong and continuous internet connectivity wherever they go where the Company maintained its leadership by providing the latest in network technology bearing in mind the growing demand for Broadband Internet services through coverage of all cities an important areas with 3G services serving more than 24 million customers across the Kingdom
