Huawei launches Android consumer devices in New Zealand

Huawei has announced it plans to secure the position of Top 5 global handset vendor within two years. Huawei says it has shipped over 120 million units since the creation of the Huawei Devices business. The company targets 2011 sales revenues of USD 6 billion. Over the next two years, Huawei intends to expand through 23 markets globally. By 2015, around 45 percent of total sales revenue will be through this channel, the company says. Huawei has also launched its latest range of consumer devices in New Zealand, including Android-powered smartphones and devices, as well as the MediaPad tablet. The Huawei MediaPad tablet runs the Honeycomb 3.2 Android OS, packaged in an aluminium uni-body casing that weighs 390g. The Mediapad is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz chipset and offers users 1080P HD playback capability and a gaming experience via its 7-inch WXGA display achieving 217 PPI with Wi-Fi 11n and HSPA+ connectivity. Huawei has also introduced its IDEOS X3 smartphone. Running on Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, the Huawei X3 features a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touch screen, HSDPA (7.2Mbps) and 3.2 megapixel camera. Huawei has also launched its website huaweimobile.co.nz that uses parallax background animation, HTML5 and CSS3 animation. A one-stop-shop for information about all of Huawei’s mobile devices, the website features download capabilities for the latest Android apps, directing users to the Android Market. The website will also be integrated with the Huawei’s Facebook page, enabling users to access real-time social media updates, comments and posts.
