Chinese telecommunications group Huawei has decided to increase its presence in Portugal by opening a technology centre in Lisbon by the end of the year, the group said in a statement issued Wednesday in Lisbon.
According to the statement the centre will employ 50 engineers, around half of which will be newly hired, and the remainder will be transferred from projects that the company already has in Portugal.
The Huawei group, which is headquartered in the special economic region of Shenzhen next to Hong Kong, did not reveal the investment to be made but said that the number of engineers at the centre could increase, especially after the transition to the fourth generation of mobile telephony.
