SMART launched iPad app for conferencing

SMART Technologies has announced an app for SMART Bridgit conferencing software, which works specifically with the iPad.
The application is designed to allow users to create and join collaborative meetings from anywhere with access to a 3G or Wi-Fi network connection. Participants can connect to the conference remotely and in real time via the app as well as share and collaborate on digital content.
“Over the past year, we’ve received a growing number of requests for an Apple iPad application version of our SMART Bridgit conferencing software, says Linda Thomas, SMART’s vice president, Products. “Using the new application for Apple iPad makes it simpler than ever for our customers to connect, wherever they might be, reducing the need for travel and enabling them to collaborate efficiently and effectively.”
The app is currently available in English and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store. The conferencing app is compatible with SMART Bridgit conferencing software version 4.2 or later.
The application is designed to secure all content and communications using 128 bit SSL encryption, password protection can also be added for an extra level of security and to ensure that only designated participants can access the meeting.
Application users cannot share digital content from their iPad devices, but can view multiple shared screens simultaneously and write over digital content.
The app features an intuitive toolbar designed to access tools quickly and easily and the ability to instantly disconnect from meetings by pressing the iPad Home Button or Leave Meeting button found in the on-screen menu. Users can also gain control of the host’s shared display from an iPad, inform participants of the call-in information for the meeting via the voice bridge notification dialog box and chat over group and private instant messaging.
The app is also designed to integrate with SMART Board interactive whiteboards or displays, write directly onto meeting pages and interact simultaneously with local and remote meeting participants.
Currently the app does not support video conferencing or VOiP and must be synchronized with a third-party conferencing solution for voice bridge notification.
