Telstra, an Australian operator, has introduced the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and its is the first device to be part of the PlayStation Certified program which means that it is able to play PlayStation Suite games. The handset features a slide-out game control, 4-inch multi-touch display, microSD support for up to 32 GB, and a 5.1-megapixel camera.
The handset comes packed with six games pre-installed and over sixty games will be available for purchase at launch in Australia. Telstra’s flagship stores will be the first to stock the new smartphone with additional Telstra stores across Australia receiving deliveries from 6 June.
The Xperia Play can be bought on Telstra’s new Freedom Connect Plans including on the $79 plan with a mobile repayment option of $20 per month (after using an included MRO Bonus), for 24 months. It will also be available to purchase outright for $960.
