Thuraya Appoints Robert Demers as VP Government Services

Thuraya, a leading international mobile satellite services (MSS) operator has appointed Mr. Robert Demers as Vice President for Government Services. In his new role, Mr. Demers will be developing and managing Thuraya’s global government business sector, especially defense in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
This appointment is aimed at significantly enhancing Thuraya’s position within government and defense telecom market around the world.
Prior to joining Thuraya, Mr. Demers held several key management positions in the mobile satellite services (MSS) as well as the fixed satellite services (FSS) industries. His extensive experience working within the government sector coupled with a service record in the US Army spanning 22 years makes him an extremely valuable addition to the Thuraya team.
Thuraya’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Samer Halawi said, “Mr. Demers’ depth of experience in the commercial satellite telecom industry, especially in supporting the requirements of the government sector, will be a huge advantage to Thuraya.
