Ev-K2-CNR Committee, an Italian non-profit organisation that promotes scientific and technological research in mountainous areas such as the Himalaya region, has been using Thuraya’s high-speed data solution, Thuraya IP as part of its research equipment. Thuraya IP has enabled Ev-K2-CNR to send data, videos and pictures as part of their environmental studies which are often in remote regions where terrestrial networks are unavailable.
With Thuraya’s ubiquitous and uninterrupted border-to-border coverage in more than 140 countries in Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia, Ev-K2-CNR can reliably depend on its network for broadband connectivity whenever it is needed by the research organisation.

Thuraya IP is the world’s smallest satellite broadband solution to support 384 Kbps streaming. It also offers speeds up to 444 Kbps Standard IP. It is the only satellite broadband solution with asymmetric streaming capabilities, allowing consumers to select their upload and download speeds for substantial cost savings. Ev-K2-CNR is best represented by the International Pyramid Laboratory/Observatory located at 5050 meters above sea level in Nepal at the base of Mount Everest, where since 1990, 520 scientific missions have been carried out by 220 researchers from 143 different scientific institutions in several nations.
