The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the National Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), participated in Zayed University’s Awareness and Training at the Dubai Campus on Thursday, April 21, 2011.
Eng. Ali Alamadi, aeCERT Incident Handler & Threat Analyst, delivered a presentation on hacking, in which he highlighted several points that will help students to enhance their cyber experiences and protect their data from hackers or other possible threats.
“We are pleased to participate in Zayed University’s Awareness and Training,” said Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General. “aeCERT is eager to provide educational institutions with the latest technologies that ensure a safe online environment, reducing cyber threats and offering students helpful information about online risks.”
Al Ghanim expressed that all educational institutions should pay more attention to online security issues while conducting daily business. “The cyber world is getting bigger, offering more options,” he said. “Many students use the internet while studying and they need to know how to browse the web safely.”
aeCERT, a TRA initiative, holds workshops and seminars addressing the rise of online security issues. The team is eager to build a safe online culture so that users can enjoy cyber space without worrying about potential risks.
aeCERT aims to sustain a resilient and vigilant ICT infrastructure against a broad range of cyber security threats by encouraging a safe and secure cyber culture in the United Arab Emirates.
Furthermore, by enhancing cyber security laws and assisting in the creation of new laws, aeCERT is spreading information security awareness across the UAE. aeCERT provides a central trusted point of contact for cyber security incident reports, and they are fostering national expertise in information security, incident management and computer forensics.
