TRA Partners with Gasco IT ED 2011 Event

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the National Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), a TRA initiative, partnered with Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (Gasco) during the Gasco “Maarifa 2011”, a two-day educational event that was held on April, 11 and 12 in Gasco Tower in Sheikh Khalifa Energy Complex – Abu Dhabi.
The event was themed “Empower your Mind with Knowledge” and aimed at raising ICT awareness, highlighting the various options where ICT can serve people while performing their business and during their personal life and shedding more light on cyber security best practices.
“The TRA is working hard on facilitating the latest technologies that might add value and improve the quality of life of the citizens. The authority is also making efforts in order to raise cyber security awareness and help users to avoid critical situations and online threats.” said Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.
“We are keen to spread a safe ICT environment across all segments in the UAE and we are working and partnering with many government bodies and educational institutes.” Al Ghanim Added.
The event included different activities that were designed to offer the participants a wide range of IT and cyber security information, raise their skills and primary IT knowledge and provide them with detailed information that can improve their performance.
“At the current time the role played by ICT in our life is growing increasingly complex; we have come to rely on it in many ways from work, to personal life and entertainment. Hence, it is very important to know how to protect our online information and keep it away from any potential threat.” Al Ghanim commented.
The United Arab Emirates Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) is the cyber security coordination center for the UAE. It is established by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) as an initiative to facilitate the detection, prevention and response of cyber security incidents on the Internet.
