In order to cope with large and rapid change in the UAE with regard to the information security landscape and as a part of its strategy that aims to create a safer cyber environment, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the National Computer Emergency Team (aeCERT)- a TRA initiative, sponsored the Security Strategist 2011 conference for the second time in association with CPI.
H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General inaugurated the event that was held in the Westin Hotel, Dubai, on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. The second edition of Security Strategist 2011 aims to help organizations understand and cope with new digital challenges facing the UAE business environment.
“We sponsored Security Strategist 2011 event for the second year as we were aiming at bringing security specialists in the UAE under one roof to discuss cyber threats, latest security tools, practices, and processes that assist in securing businesses. The professional experts will be exchanging thoughts and sharing their experiences in this field with others.”said Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim.
“aeCERT aims at enhancing the cyber security law and assist in the creation of new laws, raise information security awareness across the UAE build national expertise in information security, incident management and computer forensics.” Al Ghanim added.
In his speech opening the conference, Mohamed Al Ghanim outlined the efforts made by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) to create a safe and secure business environment. He pointed out the depth of risk that cybercrime poses today and the challenges that confront businesses in securing their operations.
The conference, Security Strategist 2011, in association with aeCERT, offered new approaches on defining priorities that optimize an organization’s cyber security and how organizations in the UAE can collaborate to build a stronger information security community within the country.
Security Strategist 2011 gathered a large number of industry experts from the UAE and GCC countries allowing participant to achieve maximum benefit out of the event. The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority participated with many security experts from (aeCERT) that include Eng. Tariq Abdulghaffar Mohammad Al Hawi, aeCERT Director, Eng Meshal Abdulla Bin hussain, Operations Manager, Eng. Ahmad Hassan, Monitoring and Response Team Leader, Eng. Majid Al Madhloum, Security Quality Services Team Leader and Eng. Ali Alamadi, Incident Handler & threat Analyst.
