Groundbreaking Next-Generation Solutions Provider Stamps its Market Leadership Position in Emerging Markets in the Middle East with a Premier Contract with Oman’s First Alternative Public International Voice Operator Samatel.
Verscom Solutions, a leading developer of next-generation network and service infrastructure solutions, today announced it has signed a major contract with Samatel of Oman to supply next-generation IP and voice network gears and to provide managed services and strategic consultancy services.
Samatel was recently awarded the highest degree license by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Oman authorizing Samatel as the third operator after the incumbent Omantel and its rival Nawras. Samatel has been actively offering mobile services to Oman since August 2010 after having been awarded a CLASS II license enabling it as an MVNO. The new CLASS I type license will additionally allow the provision of national and international voice services and requires the deployment of a physical retail traffic origination and wholesale traffic aggregation infrastructure.

In addition to offering international voice services to consumer and enterprise segments in Oman, Samatel will also operate as an International Gateway Operator to aggregate inbound and outbound wholesale voice traffic for Oman. As its exclusive strategic partner, Verscom Solutions will be responsible for the supply and deployment of next-generation CLASS 4 core in Oman TDM / packet-voice interconnect POPs in Europe, thus enabling Samatel with national and international TDM / IP voice peering facilities to interconnect with Omani network operators as well as international wholesale operators. International voice service offerings for retail market will be enabled on Verscom’s SIP-based service delivery platform. The supply of OSS / BSS platforms such as convergent billing, CRM, interconnect billing/routing are also among the responsibilities of Verscom.

Verscom Solutions had provided Samatel with deregulatory and technology consultancy services during the licensing phase.
