Zain Kuwait launches USSD service for better product marketing

Zain Kuwait, the country’s mobile network operator has launched its USSD service to allow businesses and organizations to better market their products. USSD, which stands for ‘unstructured supplementary service data’, is yet another of the chain of value-added services Zain has launched with the business community in mind, and represents a qualitative leap in mobile phone marketing.
In late April, Zain officially launched ‘AdZone’ a service that allows advertisers to send, and customers to receive, ads on their phones, relevant to and according to where they are geographically located at any one time. The launch of the USSD service will, according to Zain’s VAS Director, Nadia Al Saif, “take the commercial and business sector to new horizons in the application of information technology”.
USSD has been used in listing Zain services, enquiring bills, package usage and information through easy interactive menu.
Al Saif added that “Zain has always supported the private sector and is committed to delivering innovative services that that can boost business.”
Zain’s USSD service is very simple, for an annual fee, Zain allocates a calling code (* xxx #) to each participating company through which it can send its promotions, products and services with the press of a button using interactive easy menu USSD data can be received on all mobile phones and will be free to all Zain customers, either on the Zain network or during roaming.
Al-Saif concluded by reminding those present that “Zain always strives to deliver state-of-the-art services to its customers in the same way it is committed to providing the latest applications and technical solutions in the communication industry”.
