Etisalat announces two senior human resources appointments

In line with its strategy of further strengthening its local and regional business and retaining the top national talent, Etisalat today appointed Younis Abdul Aziz Al Nimr as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Etisalat UAE. Additionally, the Corporation appointed Faiez Awad as Senior Vice President, Human Resources Business Optimization – Asia at Etisalat Group.
Abdul Aziz Al Sawalih, CHRO – Etisalat Group, assured that the appointments were concomitant with Etisalat’s commitment to recruit and train the best national talent for key roles within the Corporation. He added that maintaining this priority for senior appointments was part of the Corporation’s ethos and was integral to Etisalat’s continuing goal of developing and preparing national talent for key responsibilities.
“As a leading international telecommunications group active across 17 countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, Etisalat has elevated nationalization priorities by consistently increasing national presence in these markets that now have nearly 70 employees of Emirati origin,” Al Sawalih said. “We have the development and preparatory tools to help every national employee achieve their professional goals and expand their professional knowledge and experience beyond our home market in the UAE.”
Al Nimr returns to Etisalat UAE having served in the capacity of CHRO at Etisalat Misr since 2008. Al Nimr joined the Corporation in 1991 and held several human resources (HR) and administrative positions within Dubai and Northern Emirates regions until he was appointed as Manager – HR & Administration for Ras Al Khaimah region in 1998. In 2004, Al Nimr was seconded to Mobily (Saudi Arabia) as Deputy CHRO to support the launch of one Etisalat’s most successful startup operations. He returned to the UAE in 2006 to serve as Director – HR & Admin – Dubai region. In 2007, he was appointed Vice President – Talent Management before being assigned to Etisalat Misr.
Al Nimr holds a Master’s degree in quality management from Dubai University.
Faiez Awad joined Etisalat in August 1998 as Employee Serivces Coordinator. He was promoted to Employee Services Manager in 2005 before being appointed Vice President – HR Operations. In November 2009, Awad was appointed Senior Vice President Human Resources at Etisalat UAE. Prior to joining Etisalat, Awad worked in Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company, Abu Dhabi, as Assistant Manager – Human Resources.
Awad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from University of Arizona, Tucson, United States.
