Huawei to launch Ascend P1 smartphone from May

Huawei announced its new flagship smartphone, the Ascend P1, will be available in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia through operators and retailers by May, in Latin America from June and in Europe this summer. Availability in other markets will follow later. The company said it’s also expanding sales and distribution channels to move beyond a focus on operators. Announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January as the “world’s slimmest smartphone”, the Ascend P1 features Android 4.0, a dual-core 1.5GHz TI Omap processor, 4.3-inch Super Amoled 960×540 touch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and Dolby Mobile 3.0 + 5.1 surround sound technology. Huawei originally said the phone would go on sale from April.
