Intelsat-sponsored Global VSAT Training Delivered to More than 1,000 of its Employees and Customers

More than 1,000 of its employees and customers across the globe have been provided Intelsat-sponsored Global VSAT Forum (GVF) Professional Training.
“Intelsat’s implementation of a comprehensive satellite communications training program has produced a higher standard of service quality for our customers,” said Intelsat SVP and Chief Technical Officer Thierry Guillemin. “Our efforts are designed to prevent signal interference through the global certification of technicians, which we believe will result in improved installation quality and enhanced network performance for customers.”
“Intelsat’s high standards in delivering training certification, ensuring network productivity and providing quality-proven equipment reinforces Intelsat as an industry leader in preventing interference and setting best practices benchmarks,” said David Hartshorn, secretary general of GVF.
The training is actually offered as one of several elements of the Intelsat Interference Mitigation Initiative (I3), an effort aimed at reducing radio frequency interference (RFI). Intelsat continues to support the GVF Product Quality Assurance Framework, which sets guidelines to improve manufacturers’ equipment used by its customers. Intelsat was also a major promoter of the implementation of Carrier ID for its news and sports broadcasters accessing its network during the 2012 London Games.
As a founding member of the Space Data Association, Intelsat has emphasized leadership on initiatives to mitigate signal interference and improve space situational awareness. Intelsat has partnered with several satellite operators and industry groups, as well as dozens of customers and equipment manufacturers to make RFI mitigation a top priority.
