Qtel launches superfast ‘My-Fi’ device

Following on from the successful introduction of personal mobile hotspots to the Qatari market, Qtel has introduced its superfast 21Mbps ‘My-Fi’ device.
The ‘My-Fi’ personal mobile hotspot allows people to create their own Internet access points from anywhere in Qatar.
This latest device from Qtel for this unique service offers all the same features of previous models, but with the added advantage of superior network speeds up to 21Mbps running over Qtel’s 3G network.
With download speeds up to 21Mbps it is possible to support video, graphic and other high-speed applications across any mobile broadband handset or device.
The new ‘My-Fi’ device from Qtel will also give access to the personal mobile hotspot for five people at any time using laptops, smart phones, gaming consoles or any other Wi-Fi enabled machine.  Additionally, ‘My-Fi’ has a battery life of up to five hours.
Qtel also recently announced the launch of a major new Long-Term Evolution (LTE) programme, which will deliver the fastest and largest 4G network in Qatar, to support the national plan to boost the knowledge-based economy.
The programme will provide ongoing improvements to mobile broadband Internet services for customers in 4G coverage areas, and offer potential download speeds of 150Mbps on mobile phones and devices.
A QR600mn investment for Qtel Fibre is already being rolled out, with over 60,000 homes already connected to high-speed Internet in the last year.
