STC embarks on a new era of broadband services

STC provides Fiber connectivity based High-Speed Internet in the Kingdom

The new fiber-optic technology (FTTH) service, launched by STC is considered the latest generation in broadband network technology in the Kingdom. This technology will replace the conventional wired technology with transparent fiber. This will increase speeds at which data is transferred and will result in clearer images, voice and faster applications.
This initiative is in line with STC’s focus on maintaining its leadership in mobile and telecommunications landscape.  This latest fiber will mark a new era of broadband services, a first of its kind in the Kingdom and the region. The high speed internet service this service offers is in line with customers’ rising expectations of multimedia rich content.
STC’s ongoing investment in the Kingdom wide fiber optic network has been driven by plans to deliver high quality and fast internet based services to the customers. Additional programs also include Jood Bundles with a speed up to 1000MB, digital content through Internet based television (IPTV).
IPTV will enable customers to watch the visual content such as satellite channels, videos, movies, documentary programs, religious and sports events. This will allow the customer to enjoy interactive multimedia content through features such as pausing or recording television content.
FTTH broadband has contributed to changing thousands of customer lifestyles with comfort across the Kingdom including the video library, gadgets and a wide range of channels. The service also opens up the possibility of distant learning (e-learning), medical diagnosis and managing security.
The FTTH will enable customers to remote monitor their homes while they are away.  This technology will make every home a smart home.
FTTH Optic-Fiber home technology open new Horizons of Internet usage
The FTTH service launched by STC is the latest generation of broadband network introducing customers to a new era of internet based services. STC Broadband service is based on the latest broadband technology, which provides the fastest bundle in the Kingdom and the region.
The FTTH service is the latest generation in broadband network technology. This will result in high speed and quality services to consumers, replacing earlier conventional installations.
These new services are being provided to customers in coordination with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, secretariats of the regions and technology companies who facilitate seamless migration of technology across all residential neighborhoods.  These upgraded installations of FTTH in old areas will result in internet speeds up to as high as 1000 MB.
STC: A real investment in telecommunications services
The fiber optic technology being provided by STC will help to in shorten distances and takes a long leap for telecommunications and information infrastructure in the Kingdom. The FTTH technology enables customers to make their calls over longer distances at lower costs.
STC investment in the fiber optic networks is based on the strong belief that it will lead to better quality and speed of internet services. By the end of 2012, the number of homes in the country covered by fiber-optic networks is expected to reach 500,000.
STC group has established a modern infrastructure in communications, which is considered the latest in the world. This solid infrastructure will provide integrated services to all segments of broadband users, whether they are governmental sectors, commercial, retail, individuals, or homes.
In two years, the vast majority of customers will be upgraded to fiber optic services. Besides, the cables which are capable of offering more than 100MB speeds will be expanded to cities and villages in all the regions of the Kingdom.
The year 2011, witnessed STC providing home broadband packages with voice services for free and Internet at high speeds of 20MB per second with one bill. A single subscription, the Jood 4 Bundle, offered by STC was unprecedented for the Kingdom and the Middle East region. Telephone, Internet, the interactive TV “Invision”, in addition to Quicknet 2GB, from one source and one fixed monthly bases made available under this offer.
