Saudi operator STC has selected Alcatel-Lucent to launch its LTE network in the Northern Region of the country, following a successful trial of the technology. Alcatel-Lucent, through the ngConnect Program, is also helping STC build an ecosystem of leading companies to provide content, applications and innovative services to meet the needs of subscribers in Saudi Arabia. STC plans commercial LTE services in 11 key cities in Saudi Arabia as a first phase of roll-out. Further details on the contract were not released.
