Setting the agenda for the world’s largest meeting place of telecommunications and technology professionals helping to accelerate digital transformation across Africa
Africa’s largest and most influential telecoms and technology event, AfricaCom visitor registration is opened for AfricaCom 2019.
Taking place in Cape Town, South Africa between 12- 14 November, this year’s conference and exhibition will also introduce AfricaTech. As the telecommunications and technology sectors have grown and with it, the convergence of the ICT industry, so has the need for dedicated space and content focused on enterprise digital transformation, which AfricaTech addresses.
AfricaTech is the part of AfricaCom dedicated to IT and enterprise digital transformation. Designed to help attendees successfully navigate their digital transformation journeys, AfricaTech will take over the whole of CTICC 2 and include an exhibition area split into dedicated technology zones, as well as play host to tech focused tracks and features including AI Africa, Fintech, IoT Africa and new for 2019, Data Centres Africa.
AfricaCom, in CTICC 1, remains the home of connectivity and communications, featuring the biggest ICT exhibition on the continent and industry-defining conference tracks such as 5G Africa, Wholesale Telecoms Africa, Video Exchange Africa, Connecting Africa and more.
The 2019 edition of this global event is expected to attract 15 000 attendees, 450 speakers and an impressive 500 exhibitors. In addition to the significant amount of expert free content on offer for visitors, AfricaCom and AfricaTech will present a series of premium content, targeted exposure to industry verticals, as well as, an all-access pass for paying delegates, which also includes entrance to the AfricaCom’s very own music festival, the AFest.
AfricaCom headliners will return in 2019 and are once again completely free to attend. Speakers already confirmed include the likes of; the Hon. Mohamed Rahman Swaray, the newly appointed Minister of Information and Communications for the Republic of Sierra Leonne; Ahmad Ahmad, President at Confederation of African Football (CAF), Calvo Mawelo CEO at MultiChoice Group and Isabel Dos Santos, Chair at Unitel.
Tom Cuthell, Event Director at Informa, organisers of AfricaCom and AfricaTech, is enthusiastic about the possibilities for this year’s visitors and delegates, confirming that plans are well underway for a show-stopping event: “AfricaCom has grown significantly in the past few years. With that, we have seen a correlating expansion in the type of organisation that exhibits and attends, especially as the telecoms and ICT industries converge.
“We have therefore geared AfricaCom 2019 towards this nexus and believe that we will offer unparalleled content, networking and business opportunities for everyone attending this year. It is an interesting time to be in telecoms and technology and we look forward once again to providing the platform to facilitate Africa’s digital growth.”
Other show favourites due to return are the AHUB, LeadersIn Africa Summit and of course, the AfricaCom Awards that recognise the sterling efforts and innovation organisations and individuals are doing to realise Africa’s full digital potential.
As always, AfricaCom presents a compelling proposition for those in both the telecommunications industry and the technology sector. More than just an event where knowledge is transferred and insightful discussions that shape our future take place, AfricaCom also represents significant business opportunities for participants. There have been many exceptional deals introduced and concluded as a result of the superior networking opportunities the event facilitates. 2019 will be no different.
For over 20 years, there has been no better place to meet everybody who’s anybody in African connectivity and communications, than at AfricaCom. AfricaTech will ensure that the same now applies to enterprise digital transformation.
