Q & A with Amjad E. Shacker, Senior Executive Officer Corporate Brand & Communication – Mobily

How is your business currently dealing with the impact of COVID-19? Is your business operational through “work-from-home” or other hybrid policies?

Mobily has always had a crisis mitigation plan in place and the Business Continuity team activated this plan early on when the Covid-19 situation became evident as a threat.

Part of this plan entailed employees working remotely, a practice that had been in place since Mobily’s inception. The only difference with the current situation is that working remotely has been expanded to encompass all employees.

How do “work-from-home/hybrid” policies affect your business in terms of productivity? How long in the future can your business continue to be operational through these policies?

Given that Mobily is an ICT company, the “work from home” solution is a collection of technical solutions designed to allow all employees access to the company’s digitalized services. Hence, all functions are running smoothly and the company is able to carry on working remotely for extended periods of time.

Mobily has also readied itself for a number of possible scenarios, regardless of the duration of the Covid-19 crisis.

How long do you think will the impact from COVID continue to last?

While no one has the answer to this question, we pray to Allah to lift this cloud hovering over the people of the earth. And previously stated, Mobily has is ready, irrespective of how long the Covid-19 situation lasts.

We at Mobily are equipped to remotely keep serving our customers, both individuals and corporate, for extended periods of time.

Do you think it is still advisable for businesses to continue to invest in innovation related projects?

As the current situation has demonstrated, it is only those businesses that have invested in innovation-related projects that have been able to weather the Covid-19 storm.

What would you be your advice to your customers and vendors dealing with COVID-19?

One needs to have faith and think out-of-the-box. Humans have endured tougher conditions throughout history yet have always found the resolve to overcome challenges, persevere and emerge stronger, more innovative and with thicker skin.
