Indosat Ooredoo reports H1 2021 results

H1 2021 Financial Highlights:

  • Total revenue of IDR 14.98 trillion, up 11.4% YoY
  • Cellular revenue of IDR 12.4 trillion, an increase of 11.3% YoY
  • EBITDA of IDR 6.78 trillion, an increase of 24.8% YoY
  • EBITDA margin increased to 45.2%, up +4.8% YoY
  • Net Profit of IDR 5.6 trillion
  • Subscribers increased to 60.3 million, up 5.3% YoY

Indosat Ooredoo has announced a strong set of financial results for the first six months of the year, which ended June 30, 2021.

President Director and CEO Indosat Ooredoo, Ahmad Al-Neama said: “Indosat Ooredoo is consistently delivering strong financial performance through the focused execution of our transformation strategy. In the first half of the year, we achieved solid top-line growth, continuing a consistent revenue growth trajectory that outperformed the industry. We also delivered strong EBITDA performance, which grew twice as fast as revenue. We continue to focus on optimizing operational costs, and we also recorded a sizable net profit. Our focus on simple, transparent, and innovative products, together with our commitment to network excellence, is translating into consistent and sustainable growth and profitability for our business.”

 Indosat Ooredoo has recorded solid financial performance in H1 2021, sustaining its growth momentum. Indosat Ooredoo’s total revenue increased by 11.4% year-on-year (YoY) to IDR 14.98 trillion. Cellular revenue rose by 11.3% YoY to IDR 12.4 trillion. The B2B Enterprise business has also shown strong performance, with emerging opportunities including IoT, IT Services, Cloud, and Security helping to deliver 16.5% revenue growth (YoY), to IDR 2.65 trillion.

EBITDA increased 24.8% YoY to reach IDR 6.78 trillion, the highest H1 EBITDA in the last three years. This was due to a combination of top-line growth and cost efficiencies that contributed to 4.8% growth in EBITDA margin YoY, reaching 45.2% in H1’21. Indosat Ooredoo also recorded a net profit of IDR 5.6 trillion, a stellar IDR 5.94 trillion improvement compared to H1 2020.

Indosat Ooredoo also recorded 60.3 million happy and engaged customers in H1 2021, an increase of 5.3% YoY. 4G data customers grew to 40 million, an increase of 29.5% YoY. Average Revenue per User (ARPU) increased by 8.2% YoY to IDR 34 thousand, driven mainly by robust growth in data traffic, which rose 40.2% YoY, helping to deliver 19% growth in 4G data revenue.

During Q2 2021, Indosat Ooredoo announced the launch of its first commercial 5G service in the city of Solo. 5G service is the next step in bringing world-class digital experiences to people in Indonesia. The launch in Solo established Indosat Ooredoo at the forefront of the 5G roll-out in Indonesia.

In response to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the people of Indonesia, Indosat Ooredoo has launched new initiatives to support customers, employees, and society. Responding to the increasing demand for data traffic, Indosat Ooredoo has accelerated the expansion and strengthening of its video grade 4G network. Indosat Ooredoo also partnered with the Government of Indonesia to provide free mobile data quotas for students and deployed additional network resources at key premises, such as hospitals, to ensure their critical communications needs were met.
