YIM and The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) today announce the joint hosting of the Malaysia International Technology Summit (MITS) 2021 on October 5th, 2021. The event comprises a series of discussions on the science and technology ecosystem, social innovation, technology transfer, social and environmental concerns and business growth.
MITS 2021 held at The Address Dubai Marina, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 9am to 5pm on October 5th, 2021, is one of the key events, in conjunction with Malaysia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, set to act as a catalyst to jumpstart Malaysia’s pandemic-hit economy.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dato’ Sri Dr Adham Baba said the summit aims to showcase Malaysia’s technologies and innovations, as well as to extend knowledge sharing on the advancements in the application of science, engineering, technology and innovation that supports and energises sustainability.
The event will kick off with a special address by his excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, the Minister of Artificial Intelligence from the Office of the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. Within the stream of high-brow panels, discussions and mini-events, highlights knowledge sharing session entitled “Ideas And Solutions To Solve World’s Most Pressing Challenges” featuring Nobel Peace Laureate, Professor Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank and Yunus Centre, two MOU exchange ceremonies between Malaysia Innovation Foundation (YIM) & Gujarat Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN) to co-operate in exploring grassroots innovations, and Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC) ASEAN Centre of Entrepreneurship (ACE) and District 2020 (Scale2Dubai) to scale and unlock the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Asian Markets, plus two panel discussions around key global topics on Low Touch High Tech With The New Emerging Technology and Social Innovation Development: How Far Can Social Innovation Be The Pillar For Global Digital Economy.
Six masterclass sessions will be conducted featuring discussions around key global topics such as “Ideas and Solutions about Involvement of the Malaysian Government in the Innovation and Commercialisation Landscape”, “Technology Commercialisation Accelerator: R & D Product Creation and Commercialisation with New Emerging Technology”, “World-class Professional Organisation for Technologists and Technicians: Elevate, Visibility & Recognition”, “The Impact of STIE-Oriented Global Competitiveness Strategies and Transmission Mechanisms on Economic Growth”, Southeast Asia: An Emerging Digital Powerhouse”, and “Sustainable Development: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation”.
In addition to the talks, visitors will be able to browse through featured products incorporating elements of innovation and technology from seven booths throughout the day. Booths are set to include technologies and innovations from Malaysia’s tech giants and innovators such as Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad, 3D Gens Sdn. Bhd. and Ideasparq Robotics Sdn. Bhd.
Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Innovation Foundation (YIM), Mrs. Sharmila Mohamed Salleh said that the summit offers a great platform for innovators, scientists, engineers, technologists and scholars from multiple disciplines in local and international societies to share their ideas and come together to make a real difference.
She said the participants get to exchange ideas on recent developments of the Social Innovation Ecosystem by venturing into social element initiatives guided by the fields of Sustainable Science, Technology and Innovation. The goal is to highlight the present possibilities and challenges for the development and diffusion of grassroots innovation in Malaysia and the Middle East region. The programs lined up for the summit will benefit the people of more than 191 countries and thousands of organisations, as well as provide participants with the knowledge they will bring back to their home countries.
“These initiatives are expected to strengthen and support the community of Malaysian technologists and innovators in their attempts to collaborate on a global scale in many areas, including Malaysia’s newest technology and inventions, trade and business opportunities, STI-related discussion space, the creation of a tech-centric community and interactions with groups that share common goals.
