stc Kuwait has signed an MoU with Tadwire, Kuwait’s first recycling facility of its kind. Supported by the Kuwait National SME Fund, Tadwire will support stc’s sustainability initiative for the year 2024, focusing on ways to reduce the waste footprint in its offices, operations, and community. Additionally, the initiative aligns with stc’s extensive corporate social responsibility framework, which is comprised of several key pillars, one of which focuses on environmental preservation.
To commemorate the exclusive MoU, stc held a signing ceremony at its headquarters that was attended by executives from stc and Tadwire. Through the partnership, stc and Tadwire will collaborate on various initiatives that will spread awareness on environmental responsibility and sustainability by collecting electronic waste and recycling it to reduce its negative impact on the environment. Signing the MoU is in line with our corporate strategy to achieve the various objectives defined under the Company’s 2024 sustainability program, which is a top priority for the Company, and also aligns with Kuwait’s 2035 Vision.
The e-waste recycling initiative will include a number of activities that aim to educate and spread awareness on the importance of recycling to preserve the environment. Considering that stc, as well as other players in the market, have increased their growth based on the demand for new electronic products, such as smartphones, routers, entertainment devices, and others, it is essential for individuals to understand how to properly dispose of their old electronic waste. Through its role as a pioneer in the market, stc, in collaboration with Tadwire, aims to take the lead in advocating this mission as well as educate the public on the benefits of recycling in general.
Commenting on the partnership, Eng. Anowd Hamad Muthaib, Acting Chief Strategy Officer & Chief Transformation and Synergies Officer at stc, said, “stc implements sustainable standards across its core functions, whether they are directly related to the business or related to the community. We are proud to partner with the first recycling facility of its kind in Kuwait that handles various materials. Our goal is to support the community by enlightening them on the positive sustainable impacts of recycling and how it can lead to preserving the environment and natural resources. This year, stc is focusing on the core attributes behind its sustainability program which also aligns with the Company’s longstanding CSR framework.”
Muthaib further added, “On behalf of stc, I would like to thank the team at Tadwire for their support and effort which led to the signing of this MoU that will prove to be fruitful for both parties. As pioneers within our industry, we believe in the power of forming strong collaboration with key partners that share the same vision and goals as stc. Our commitment to sustainability is unwavering, and we believe that through collective efforts, we can achieve a significant impact for our community and stimulate lasting change for future generations.”
Waleed Esbaitah from Tadwire, said, “We are excited to be working alongside stc in spreading awareness on the importance of recycling different materials within our community. Our vision at Tadwire is to set the benchmark for sustainable environmental protection in Kuwait, and having a partner like stc along our side will surely accelerate this vision. When we first began our journey, we noticed the lack of recycling facilities in Kuwait that could cater to various waste sources like e-waste. When launching our facility, our objective was to fill this gap and lead by example. Today, by partnering with stc, we are not only expanding our reach but also enhancing the impact of our efforts across the nation. Having said that, we look forward to collaborating with stc under the new partnership and are eager to see where this journey will take us.”
