The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Qatar, in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), recently organized a three-day staff workshop from September 28–30, 2025. The program, titled “Instruction and Knowledge Building towards the Work of ITU”, aimed to deepen understanding of the ITU’s operational framework and strengthen Qatar’s capacity in international ICT governance.
The sessions provided insights into the ITU’s structure and procedures, with a special focus on two upcoming high-profile global events: the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) in Baku and the Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-26) in Doha. Participants received practical training on preparing for international conferences, managing study groups, and drafting impactful contributions and resolutions.
Through this initiative, CRA staff enhanced their ability to formulate well-defined national positions and actively engage in strategic international dialogues. This not only bolsters Qatar’s representation within the ITU but also ensures the country’s perspectives are reflected in shaping the future of global telecommunications.
Aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030, the workshop reinforces the nation’s ambition to position itself as a regional hub for research, innovation, and digital transformation. By equipping its teams with advanced knowledge and skills, the CRA is preparing to play a more influential role in shaping policies on sustainable connectivity, digital innovation, and emerging technologies at the global stage.
