STC launches 4G roaming service with Viva Kuwait

Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) and Viva Kuwait successfully concluded the necessary tests for 4G LTE roaming data services. The results promised very high speed connections, supported by the direct linkage between the two companies’ networks, and marking the first 4G roaming agreement between Gulf operators.
The agreement is anticipated to enable roaming customers of both companies to enjoy high speed mobile Internet with an extensive and highly efficient 4G LTE network coverage in various regions.
Under the agreement, customers will be able to enjoy high speed and quality Internet with 3 to 4 times better “receiving” network efficiency than HSPA, and 2 to 3 times better sending efficiency.
The agreement is the first of its kind between Gulf operators, and comes to reaffirm STC’s leadership in the field of international roaming services and highlight its dedication to provide the best services, supported by the company’s biggest infrastructure on the local scale.
STC had introduced an economic, unified Gulf roaming rate, offering added value to roaming customers, as the company signed more than 2000 roaming agreements with other international operators, incorporating audio and video 3G technology, roaming internet, and international MMS.
