Omantel is ensuring that drivers enjoying the new Muscat Expressway can stay connected following the introduction of its 3.5G network coverage across the 55 km length of the new road. The company has installed 13 mobile stations that ensure uninterrupted coverage for passengers using their mobile phones and for drivers who use hand-free systems while driving along the expressway.
Commenting on the introduction of 3.5G to the expressway, Ahmed Mohammed al Nasri, General Manager of Network Development at Omantel, said: “Omantel tries to cover all the places in the country with our network where our customers can enjoy our services wherever they go or travel to.
“We worked closely with Muscat Municipality who have developed the Expressway to cover the whole highway as it passes through the mountains through a network of mobile 3.5G transmission units. In the longer term we will exchange these with fixed units during a process that will ensure continued network coverage throughout,” he added.
