Egyptian IPTV operator selects Latens conditional access

Egyptian Advanced Multimedia Systems (EAMS) has chosen conditional access software from Latens for its project to transmit multicast streams and VOD content to regional headends in the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf area.
EAMS has also selected middleware from Swedish firm Dreampark, and plans to offer high-definition and standard-definition linear IPTV streams, plus pay-per-view and video-on-demand services, using satellite delivery of content via Nilesat to regional headends.
“Of all the solutions we considered, Latens’ CAS was the most attractive solution as it offers a high level of protection and security for our IPTV system,” said Tarek Malash, CEO of EAMS. “Latens’ experienced team were able to demonstrate their software-only security solution which we considered to be the best in terms of functionality, scalability and cost of ownership,” added Mohamed Swidan, CTO of EAMS.
The EAMS project is expected to implement an average of 50 regional headends every year for the first five years of operation, based on the potential coverage area of Nilesat Satellite.
