PCCW Global, a subsidiary of Hong Kong’s premier telecommunications provider, PCCW Limited, and CAT Telecom Public Company Limited (CAT), a leading Thai telecommunications service provider, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop close and strategic cooperation.
This agreement serves to support CAT’s recent establishment of a Point of Presence in Hong Kong. The two companies will explore opportunities for cooperation in telecommunications services to support demand from customers with needs to connect Thailand, Hong Kong and the rest of the world.
Mr. Stephen Pang, PCCW Global’s Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific, said, “The collaboration with CAT will further enhance our capabilities and enable us to explore new opportunities in Thailand and beyond via CAT’s regional knowledge and our expertise in international connectivity. PCCW Global and CAT will jointly provide high quality international connectivity via diversified submarine cable systems to ensure full resilience and seamless connections to our customers from enterprises, governments, and other market sectors.”
Mr. Sompol Chanprasert, CAT’s Senior Executive Vice President of Broadband Business, said, “CAT offers a full range of data communication solutions including domestic leased circuits, MPLS and Ethernet technology. This is very important in serving our customer’s connectivity needs from Thailand to Hong Kong and beyond. Hong Kong is not only Asia’s financial and trading hub, but also the gateway into mainland China. This strategic agreement with PCCW Global enables CAT to provide international data communications into the global arena.”
