Nokia and Ooredoo Qatar to deploy indoor connectivity solutions

During MWC Doha, Nokia and Ooredoo Qatar announced a strategic partnership to deploy advanced indoor connectivity solutions for enterprise and VIP customers. The collaboration will introduce the first 4G/5G Smart Node femtocell in Qatar, marking a milestone not only for the country, but also across Ooredoo Group affiliates in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia Pacific.

Powered by Nokia technology, the deployment supports Ooredoo Qatar’s strategy to deliver a compact, optimized indoor system that integrates seamlessly into its network. Designed for quick installation and high performance, Nokia’s Smart Node solution expands LTE and 5G access to enterprises, offices, and residential environments at a competitive cost.

The Smart Node is an indoor small cell that uses integrated omni-directional antennas to provide secure, scalable, and cost-efficient network access in small and medium indoor environments. It offers clear voice services and high-speed data, while its software-defined parameters can be remotely configured via OAM, eliminating the need for physical site visits. Its plug-and-play design minimizes dependency on customer infrastructure and ensures strong coverage in both dense urban and remote settings.

The rollout is expected to significantly enhance indoor coverage for Ooredoo Qatar’s enterprise and VIP/premium users, helping to improve customer satisfaction and reduce churn through reliable and secure 4G and 5G availability across strategic enterprise locations.

Mohamed Samir, VP Middle East Mobile Networks at Nokia, said: “This solution unlocks countless opportunities for enterprise customers thanks to the trusted performance of Nokia’s technology. Our Smart node solution is uniquely positioned to help Ooredoo Qatar improve B2B time to market, enhance customer experience and offload traffic from Macro RAN. This partnership marks a significant step in our ongoing collaboration with Ooredoo Qatar, as we continue to drive network excellence enabling B2B business growth.”

Hicham Siblini, CTIO at Ooredoo Qatar, commented: “Ooredoo Qatar continues to lead with groundbreaking network solutions. Our collaboration with Nokia to introduce the region’s first Smart Nodes solution builds on this legacy. This enterprise-centric solution empowers our customers by elevating productivity and security while reducing costs. Aligned with our commitment to sustainable, future-proof technologies, this partnership supports Qatar’s digital transformation under Qatar National Vision 2030, cementing our role in building a robust and secure tech ecosystem.”

Nokia’s Smart Node and femtocell portfolio directly addresses the growing demand for high-performance private networks, supporting current enterprise applications and enabling new services as digital transformation accelerates.
