Amr Diab, Hussein Al Jasmi and Shama Hamdan provide breathtaking ending to 3rd du World Music Festival
The 3rd du World Music Festival drew to a magnificent end, with Amr Diab, accompanied by Emirati artist Hussein Al Jasmi (du Ambassador to Hearts of the People) and emerging star Shamma Hamdan, delivering a sell-out performance at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
Insatiable crowds braved the rain and clamoured for more as the three sensational celebrities sang hit after hit, leaving their fans absolutely thrilled with such a fabulous closing ceremony to what has been a fortnight of international musical excellence.
Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, thanked fans for turning up despite the rain. “Our hopes with the 3rd du World Music Festival were to bring together an international panel of the world’s finest artists, that would reflect the diverse interests of our more than six million customers, as well as the culturally vibrant population of the UAE. We sought not only the finest talents from around the world, but brought to light some of the UAE and Arab world’s most popular artists, to promote Dubai as the premiere destination in the region for live entertainment. We are so pleased with the success of this year’s du World Music Festival. The tremendous turnout at all of the concerts and the incredible performances by the artists make us very eager for the fourth edition of the du World Music Festival, which we’re sure will be even bigger and better than ever before!”
The 3rd du World Music Festival concerts began on 22 March, with an opening performance by legendary opera singer, Andrea Bocelli at the du Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Bocelli was followed by concerts on starring Guns N’ Roses (du Arena, Yas Island); Kadim Al Saher and Sherine (Dubai Media City Amphitheatre); Natalie Cole and Frank Gambale (Dubai Media City Amphitheatre); Hussein Al Jasmi and Sherine (Ice Land Water Park, Ras Al Khaimah); Papon featuring MIDIval PunditZ and Raghu Dixit (Dubai Media City Amphitheatre); Eraserheads (Dubai Media City Amphitheatre); Sonu Nigam LIVE (Dubai Tennis Stadium); Train (Dubai Media City Amphitheatre), and the finale, featuring Amr Diab, Hussein Al Jasmi and Shamma Hamdan, on 6 April.
