Cisco, Red Hat double down on cloud partnership

Cisco, Red Hat double down on cloud partnershipSilicon Valley-based Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO) and Raleigh-based open source software giant Red Hat (NYSE: RHT) are expanding on an already existent partnership to double down on cloud technology.

Cisco – which has one of the largest Research Triangle Park headcounts – Vice President Denny Trevett reports that the collaboration will accelerate collaborative engineering and product development around three key technologies: OpenStack, Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) and Intercloud.

That means integrated products – everything from Cisco UCS to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

“We’ll deliver integrated solutions for enterprise and service provider customers,” he writes via blog post.

For Cisco, it’s delivering on earlier statements made by CEO John Chambers in the wake of a recent layoff announcement – that Cisco would be doubling down on key priority areas such as cloud and security.
