Ericsson participated in Wi-Fi & Small Cells MENA, held from October 27-28 in Dubai, as a Silver Sponsor. Throughout the event, Ericsson demonstrated its Small Cells technologies and offerings, which support telecommunications network operators to achieve superior network performance and enhanced end-user experience.
The event brings together 250 regional experts from across the region, in addition to MENA’s leading developers and operators, to foster a collaborative approach towards creation smart cities.
Dory Chakour, Mobile Broadband Engagement Manager, Ericsson Region Middle East, took part in in a panel discussion entitled ‘Challenges & Future Road Map of Carrier Grade Wi-Fi Deployments’, on October 28. The discussion covered topics such as the drivers, challenges and prospects of the emerging Wi-Fi market, how operators justify the extra cost of Wi-Fi integration and the long term benefits of doing so, and the challenges faced when creating a broader hotspot footprint.
Chakour said: “We are entering a world in which connectivity will power everything that we do. This is what Ericsson calls the Networked Society, in which everything that can benefit from a connection will be connected. In this world, superior customer experience, anywhere and everywhere, will be critical – not only to achieve smart city status, but for operators to retain and gain new customers and revenue. Especially important is indoor coverage, and operators can use small cells to create a significant differentiation factor. Differentiation, in our competitive region, is the key to success.”
