Etisalat Group, a leading telecoms operator in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, has appointed four UAE nationals as executives to HR and administration roles for the groups Egypt, Pakistan and Afghanistan operations.
The executives are all Etisalat employees that have had distinguished careers and played a vital role within the corporation, said a statement.
Abdulaziz Al Sawaleh, chief HR officer, said: “For an organisation to assign home-grown talent to leadership roles in international operations is a sign of a strong human resource development strategy and programme. It is a matter of further pride for us as a UAE company that UAE nationals are making a mark in global positions.
“Etisalat Group’s international growth is driven by the innovation and customer-centricity of our people, and we have been successful in translating this culture to our subsidiaries through this talent implanting.”
Obaid Al Zaabi will take over as chief HR and administration Officer at Etisalat Afghanistan. He joined Etisalat Abu Dhabi as a fresh graduate in 2001 and has taken on a range of roles in UAE, Nigeria and at group level.
Ahmed Al Zarooni will join Etisalat Misr as chief HR and administration officer. He served as the senior vice president for corporate strategy and support services at Etisalat Services Holding, having joined the group in 1989 and services in engineering and HR functions in the UAE and Sudan.
Jafar Abdullah has been appointed as director contracts and administration at Etisalat Misr. During his 18-year career with Etisalat, he began as HR co-ordinator in Etisalat Abu Dhabi and has progressed through administration, facilities management, and support services management. In his previous role with Canar in Sudan, Jafar managed all of the HR and administrative needs of the company.
Yousef Soofa will take the position of chief HR and administration officer for Ufone, Pakistan. After joining Etisalat in 1993, he has held prominent roles in Etisalat UAE, Egypt and in India within HR and administration functions.
