For the first time in the Middle East new direct purchasing option from STC allows customers to buy direct from Nokia Ovi Store

Post-paid and pre-paid customers can purchase Ovi content without need for credit card

For the first time in the Middle East, STC customers in the Kingdom can purchase directly from Nokia’s Ovi store using their operator bill or credit balance and without having to use a credit card.  The new feature adds the purchased amount to postpaid users bills or deducts it directly from the account balance of prepaid mobile users (Sawa and Lana).

STC’s new direct purchasing option comes as part of the collaboration between STC and Nokia, providing convenience, flexibility and innovation, and  allows STC customers to enjoy premium content from the Nokia Ovi Store.  The Nokia Ovi store content is distributed to more than 190 countries worldwide, offering applications, games and multimedia content to customers.

Purchasing from the Ovi store could not be easier as the payment method option immediately appears to customers after they make the purchase. Pre-paid customers will simply have the cost of the purchase deducted from their credit balance.  A cancelation feature is easily accessed during the download process in case the customer changes his mind.

Following the announcement, Jameel Abdullah Al Molhem, Vice President of the Personnel Services unit in STC, explained that STC continues to play a pioneering role in the market in terms of providing solutions, not only in the Kingdom but also across the region.  He went on to say: “This is part of our customer centric strategy to meet their needs and requirements.  We are excited about the opportunities with Nokia and we believe that this collaboration will play a key role is opening new vistas of opportunities for our customers.”

Imran Mahmood, General Manager, Nokia Saudi Arabia said: “This is a first in both Saudi Arabia and the region and marks a key milestone for the way telecom operators do business and serve their customers.  It will add to the customer experience, making downloads from the Ovi store even easier for purchasing.   Many customers don’t have a credit card, or do not wish to use one for these types of transactions, so we have provided them with a simple option where they can pay using their phone bill.”
