Nawras Goodwill Journey 7

Nawras Goodwill Journey 7 preparations well underway

Nawras, Oman’s customer friendly communications provider, is gearing up for its annual Goodwill Journey which will once again see a team of volunteers from the company travelling the length and breadth of the country to give meaningful donations and share time with the needy during Ramadan.  This initiative began seven years ago and is a cornerstone of this caring company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

Every year, more than five thousand kilometres are travelled by the Nawras convoy as a wide variety of items are presented to charitable institutions in order to brighten and improve the daily lives of those less fortunate in society.  Nawras Goodwill Journey takes place during the Holy Month of Ramadan when fasting volunteers willingly give up the time that they would normally be spending with their own families at this special point in the year.

Commenting on the importance of Nawras Goodwill Journey 7, Chief Executive Officer, Ross Cormack, said, “This is an important date in our calendar as the Nawras family comes together to show the community the big hearts of each of our caring family members.  Nawras Goodwill Journey seeks to reach out to as many people as possible and to positively impact their lives in a way that lasts way far beyond our physical presence in their village or town.”

Nawras not only gives electronic and electrical items or cars and buildings to help people in many remote locations, but also takes time to listen to the needs and duties of the different charities in order to better understand their requirements. Playing with children and entertaining them with games and activities is also an important component of the Nawras Goodwill Journey.

Organising such an initiative requires a lot of advanced planning and coordination to ensure that the recipients receive the help they need today in order to provide assistance that will benefit them for many years to come.

Nawras has always played a pivotal role in caring for the less privileged and previous Goodwill Journey members have expressed how they felt enriched by this opportunity to show their compassion and make a real difference in the community.

In 2007, the scope and scale of this annual undertaking was recognised internationally with the Nawras Goodwill Journey being awarded the Middle East Business Achievement Award for Corporate Social Responsibility at the Leaders Conference held in Dubai.

In addition to the Nawras Goodwill Journey, this caring company supports and sponsors many other community events in the Sultanate both large and small, as well as numerous sporting activities and the annual Muscat Festival and Salalah Tourism Festival.
