Online business licences for Dubai entrepreneurs

Online business licences for Dubai entrepreneursEntrepreneurs wishing to start a business in Dubai can now use the Department of Economic Development’s (DED) new e-service to get a business licence online.

The new facility allows users to get their licences issued even when they are outside UAE, and is meant to ease the process of starting a business in Dubai.

It is in line with the Smart City initiative launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

“Our focus is on progressively bringing all BRL [Business Registration & Licensing] services on to the e-services platform,” BRL Director at DED, Ahmad Ebrahim said.

“Such improvements in service efficiencies are part of the overall strategy of Dubai and essential to demonstrating the ease of doing business and competitiveness, which Dubai emphasises as its key advantages as a business destination,” he added.

World bank report

In addition to aiding investors and business people, the initiative is part of efforts to enhance the UAE’s ranking in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report.

An internationally competitive and competent business registration system that offers added value and flexible procedures is one of the criteria against which countries are ranked in the Doing Business Report.

DED has also been introducing various BRL services as smart phones applications. These include inquires and reservations for the business name, inquires for the status of transactions, learning about legal activities, renewing licences, checking for fines, and checking for the location of companies and their business state.
