Roshan Opens the First Network Operations Center in Afghanistan
Roshan, Afghanistan’s leading total communications provider, today announced the opening of its state-of the-art Network Operations Center (NOC). A first in Afghanistan, the NOC delivers cutting-edge monitoring technology for Roshan’s 2G and 3G networks. The monitoring system enables Roshan to monitor the nation-wide network in real-time to proactively identify network issues. This ensures the company is able to offer customers across Afghanistan the highest quality network.
The NOC marks the next step in the technological evolution of Roshan’s network. By centralizing network monitoring from 13 regional monitoring systems previously into one system now, the NOC aims to improve Roshan’s response time when resolving network issues, by enabling technicians to monitor, in real-time, any issues that arise on the network and reroute traffic as needed to minimize downtime. Additionally, the NOC will allow Roshan to continuously perform ‘health-checks’ across the network, and proactively prevent problems from arising.

Previously, Roshan’s technology and network were awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification, the highest international quality recognition. The NOC is part of the nearly $600 million Roshan has invested in its network in Afghanistan to date.
