"Sundar Pichai: The new Google's CEO"Google has announced a major reorganization, which will see the internet giant separate its core business from its ambitious research divisions, and launch a new parent company called Alphabet.

As part of the restructure, Larry Page will become chief executive of Alphabet, Sergey Brin will become president, Eric Schmidt will become executive chairman, and Sundar Pichai, who previously oversaw many of the search company’s core products, will become chief executive of Google – which will incorporate search, web advertising, Gmail, YouTube, Chrome and Android.

Mr Page said that Mr Pichai was the natural choice to lead Google, adding that he has “really stepped up” since October of last year, when he took on product and engineering responsibility for Google’s internet businesses.

Pichai was born and schooled in Chennai, India. He captained his school’s cricket team, leading it to win regional competitions.

He studied Metallurgical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur). According to one of his tutors, quoted in the Times of India, Pichai was the “brightest of his batch”.

He has evidently used his talent to great effect at Google, a company he joined in 2004. Products under his watch include Google’s web browser, Chrome, as well as the Android mobile operating system.

Here are few facts about Sundar;

1) He is worth $150 million

Pichai was born in Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India, in 1972. His full name is Pichai Sundararajan. Though he had a modest upbringing, he’s now worth $150 million.

2) He invented Google Chrome

He has been with Google since 2004, when he joined to lead product management for Google Chrome and Chrome OS. Meanwhile, he was involved with Google Drive and went on to oversee Gmail and Google Maps, as well.

3) He invented Android

Android One” Pichai’s pet project designed to provide affordable smartphones in all households worldwide, launched in India in September 2014.

4) He can remember each and every number

He has an insane numerical recall. He can remember every number that he’s ever dialed.
