Kenyan operator Safaricom announced the appointment of Nicholas Read to its board of directors. Read, 46, is the current Vodafone CEO for Africa, the Middle East and Pacific region, overseeing businesses in several countries including Kenya. He replaces Morten Lundal on the Safaricom board. Lundal was in October last year appointed the Vodafone Group chief commercial officer. Safaricom said the changes took effect on 17 January. The statement added that Les Baillie, Safaricom’s chief investor relations officer, had ceased to function as an alternate director to Morten Lundal.
