China Telecom selects Alcatel-Lucent for all-IP network

China Telecom has deployed IP technology from Alcatel-Lucent to further transform its data network. The contract was secured through Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell. Under the agreement with Alcatel-Lucent, China Telecom will enable the always-on delivery of video and data broadband services. This will also pave the way for China Telecom to deploy 100 GE technology for future network upgrades. The deployment of Alcatel-Lucent’s IP/MPLS system will provide capacity across China Telecom’s residential, business and mobile backhaul networks. This project will use the Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS 7750 Service Router portfolio, including the 7750 SR-12 and 7750 SR-7, as the broadband network gateway to deliver service and subscriber management capacities. In conjunction with the 7750 SR, the Alcatel-Lucent 7705 Service Aggregation Routers (including the 7705 SAR-M, 7705 SAR-8, and 7705 SAR-18) will deliver an optimised IP/MPLS mobile backhaul, using common SR-OS software, to address China Telecom’s 2G, 3G and future LTE mobile broadband needs.
