CommunicAsia: ServersCheck launches newest generation of SensorGateway and 4 new sensor probes

At the CommunicAsia exhibition, Asia’s largest IT conference, ServersCheck is introducing the next generation of its popular SensorGateway as well as four new sensor probes: Dry Contact sensor, Airflow sensor, DC voltmeter and DC power meter. The ServersCheck sensors are also shown on the IDA booth. IDA, the Government’s Infocomm Development Authority in Singapore, showcases on its booth the latest developments in de area of environmental sensor networks. Furthermore ServersCheck has announced the launch of a new extended reseller strategy for the Asian market.”

New generation of SensorGateway
ServersCheck is introducing a new generation of its SensorGateway. This SensorGateway is an IP, PoE and SNMP based temperature sensor for monitoring environmental conditions in server rooms, datacenters and any other technical equipment room. In addition to the built-in temperature probe, up to two additional probes can be connected to theSensorGateway: humidity, power failure, flooding, airflow, shock, dry contact (smoke, motion, glassbreak, door contact), DC power or voltmeter. This makes it one of the least expensive IP and PoE based temperature sensors available on the market; it is at least 30{e1f18614b95d3cd6e4b3128e1cd15d99b042a60a5a19c19b7a8e07e7495efa10} cheaper than some of its direct competitors.

Four new sensor probes including a DC power and a volt sensor
Monitoring server rooms means more than just monitoring systems availability and performance. Environmental conditions have a significant impact on the availability of systems. Such conditions can be monitored with ServersCheck’s environmental sensors. ServersCheck is the only company in the world that manufactures solutions to monitor systems availability and performance while also monitoring the conditions in which they are running. Its broad range of sensors (temperature, power failure, humidity, flooding, shock, etc.) has now been extended to include 4 new sensors: an airflow sensor to monitor air circulation (in m/s) inside datacenters; a dry contact sensor with 16 inputs and 4 outputs to monitor motion, smoke, door contact, glass break or any other dry contact output sensor; for the telecom industry, a DC power meter to measure power usage from a DC source and a DC voltmeter to measure battery status inside shelters.

How does it work?
The sensors are IP based. Their industrial and 0U design allows them to be easily integrated inside existing datacenters, server rooms or technical equipment rooms. Since the sensors are also PoE enabled, all that is required is a network cable. The sensors do not require a PC to operate and they come with a built-in webserver for easy administration. They can generate alerts via e-mail. With the SNMP feature, the sensors can be integrated into any SNMP-ready Network Monitoring System, including the ServersCheck Monitoring Software / Appliance. By using the latter, customers will also get SMS alerting capability in addition to traditional alerts via e-mail, MSN, etc.

Channel strategy for Asia
At CommunicAsia, ServersCheck is also introducing its new channel strategy for Asia which will focus on indirect sales. ServersCheck’s products are now available for purchase by resellers without requiring them to register as a reseller or without requiring them to make any upfront investments. The channel is is from now on being managed through a new Singapore-based office. In the second half of 2012, ServersCheck will open a logistics hub in Asia to offer a faster shipping and delivery experience to its customers in the region.

Comment
Given the great success of our environmental sensors for server rooms and in order to meet growing market demand in Asia, we have decided to expand our offering in this area and region,” explains Maarten Van Laere, CEO of ServersCheck. “In addition to our ‘traditional’ sensors, we are pleased to introduce at CommunicAsia a new range of sensors for traditional server rooms and the telecom industry. It is our goal to have one of the widest ranges of IP-based environmental sensors available on the market. With our new SensorGateway on display at CommunicAsia, we also now have the cheapest IP & PoE based temperature sensor. We’re also pleased and very proud that the IDA, Singapore’s Infocomm Development Authority, is showcasing our products as state-of-the-art network technology. To be present at their boot is an important reference for ServersCheck. In order to support demand, we are introducing a new channel program that will allow virtually any Asia-based reseller to sell our products along with their services. To emphasize the growing importance of this region, we are planning to open a logistics hub in Asia in the upcoming months.”
